Proclamation & Letter Requests

Honoring the individuals, organizations, and milestones that make District 91 and Tennessee shine.

Representative Harris is proud to recognize the people, organizations, and events that embody the spirit and progress of our community. Let's celebrate what makes District 91 bold, brilliant, and one-of-a-kind. The guidelines below outline the criteria for requesting a proclamation or a letter from our office.

Proclamations

Purpose: Ceremonial documents that recognize special events, initiatives, individuals, or milestones — or a great act of service that positively impacts our community.

Examples Include

  • Awareness campaigns or heritage months
  • Milestone anniversaries (business, non-profit, civic)
  • Community events or charitable efforts

Criteria

  • Must reflect positive civic, cultural, educational, or charitable contributions
  • Must not be for personal, commercial, or political promotion
  • Requests must be submitted at least 2 weeks in advance

Letters of Merit or Awards

Purpose: Awarded to individuals, groups, or institutions that have made significant contributions to our community — in education, public service, the arts, athletics, innovation, or humanitarian efforts.

Examples Include

  • Outstanding educators or students
  • Public servants going above and beyond
  • Local heroes or volunteers

Criteria

  • Must demonstrate exceptional service, achievement, or impact
  • May be issued posthumously or as part of a ceremony
  • Nominations from officials or community organizations welcome

Letters of Recognition

Purpose: Awarded to individuals, groups, or institutions celebrating milestone events, anniversaries, or convenings in District 91.

Examples Include

  • Conferences & convenings
  • Wedding anniversaries
  • School events

Criteria

  • Anniversary or event must be celebrated in the district or state
  • The event or anniversary must align with our community's values

General Guidelines for All Requests

  • All requests must include supporting details describing the achievement, event, or impact.
  • The office reserves the right to deny or modify any request that does not meet the spirit of these honors.
  • These recognitions are non-commercial and non-partisan in nature.
  • Please allow at least two weeks for processing.
